Who We Are
GFSF is a not-for-profit organization, founded and managed worldwide by GIC Group, with a diverse but interrelated industry membership: producers, processors, merchandisers/ shippers/distributors, and retailers. GFSF/China is jointly managed by the GIC Group and its partner, Yuan Yao, with offices in Washington, DC, and Beijing. It has been welcomed and endorsed by government regulators, including China’s Ministries of Commerce, Health, Agriculture and SMR (Department of International Cooperation of the State Administration for Market Regulation), as well as several provincial government agencies.

In 2009, food safety concerns were reaching a head in China. GIC responded by hosting a widely attended international industry roundtable.

The following year, several leading multinational companies supported the creation of Global Food Safety Forum, a not-for-profit international organization focused on China and other Asian markets.

USDA awarded GFSF a grant under the Emerging Market Program which served to grow our organization, offering conferences, rapid response technical services, delegation visits, and special public-private events.

In June, 2013, GFSF hosted a Summit in conjunction with National Food Safety Week with the participation and support of CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration) authorities.

With a strong growth in our membership base, GFSF has expanded its branch services and activities to other Asian markets.
